Cliff Racer

From The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

It's been many years since the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but the game still has a mass amount of players, thanks to its huge and dynamic world and a talented modding community. The Elder Scrolls series, in general, is great for us fictional food connoisseurs. I already released a recipe for the quintessential Sweetroll, and I always make sure to include a couple Elder Scrolls recipes in my cookbooks. The newest Geeky Chef book, The Geeky Chef Drinks, features two of the three specialty beverages from Riften's most romantic tavern, The Bee and Barb. I didn't tackle the Cliff Racer in the book because, well, it was intimidating. BUT, I decided to conquer my fears and complete the trilogy. While researching each ingredient in the drink, I discovered that, unfortunately, there's just not a lot of information out there. However, aside from the Firebrand Wine, each ingredient was described, at some point in the series canon, as a strong liquor. "Flin" is apparently an Imperial whiskey, and "Sujamma" is a super strong Dunmer liquor. So basically this drink is wine mixed with liquor, liquor and... oh, some more liquor! Talen-Jei was definitely not joking around when he said this drink was not for the faint of heart. My version tastes like a rich, spicy sangria that packs a wallop. It's one beast (or dragon) of a drink. If you want to try my versions of The White Gold Tower and Velvet Lechance, make sure to preorder The Geeky Chef Drinks!

Ingredients
1.5 oz Spiced Red Wine (there is a real Firebrand...brand.)
0.75 oz Apple Brandy
0.75 oz Irish Whiskey
0.75 oz Stroh Rum (or other strong spiced rum)
Apple Cider or Unfiltered Apple Juice (optional, to taste)

Directions
1) Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
2) Add the brandy, whiskey and rum.
3) Shake until chilled.
4) Pour into serving glass.
5) Top with spiced wine.
6) Take a sip. If it's too strong for you, add some Apple Cider to even it out, ya milk-drinker.

  1. Now this is definitely stronger than another online one I found. Might eventually try it, once I develop a tolerance for the strong stuff.
